GSA and GSAF Programs

The Montagne Fund supports programs and activities of GSA with a focus on structural geology, stratigraphy, and geomorphology, with emphasis on education and outreach.

The Roy J. Shlemon Mentor Program started in 1996. The program links practicing geoscientists to students and early career professionals interested in a career in applied geology. Through hosted luncheons, mentors discuss with students the opportunities and challenges within the field of applied geology. Students receive valuable career advice and insight into the hiring process.

The Penrose Conference Fund helps fund individual Penrose Conferences.

The Diversity and Inclusion Fund provides sponsorship for activities in support of building a more inclusive and diverse society.

The GeoCorps™ America Fund places geoscientists in a wide variety of temporary geoscience roles with numerous public lands partners. This fund supports a modest stipend and housing allowance.

The GeoTeachers Program provides curriculum-linked geoscience teaching resources and field activities for school teachers across the U.S.
